About Training

The program breaks down to three main parts of the life of your dog and his or her activities. It can be used as a yardstick to help measure progress in any aspect of the dog’s life.Training Dogs

Obedience Training

Concerning training the dog’s brain and developing a good working relationship between you and your dog, obedience training is the most important aspect of the program. Techniques used must include a balance of both correction and praise.

The Pack Theory

Dogs, like their ancestor the wolf, are social animals and form packs. In your dog’s eye, your family is the pack, and depending on how dominant he or she is, will try to elevate his or her status in it. Generally speaking, there are two dominant (alpha) dogs in the pack. In your family, there may be just two people or it may consist of more. In any situation, the dog will usually identify at least one person as dominant to him or her. In comparison to the dog pack, Dad is the leader, Mom is the alpha or dominant female, and the children are the subordinates.

A dog must be kept healthy, and to assure a high standard of both mental and physical health we must keep track of:

Classes

All classes are conducted in the a natural environment in a specified location around Halifax. I hold my classes outside because that is where you will be practising and where you will be with your dog.

Classes must have a minimum of 5 students. The training course includes five classes, one a week for five consecutive weeks and you will be provided notes at the end of each class.
